Working between flowers

Among the many works in the exhibition, the works of "Nineteenth Century French Flower -Flower Still Life Painting" are one of our favorite artists, Henri Fantin-Latour (1836-1904). The program includes dozens of works by artists such as Matisse, Bonnard, Rayong, Monet, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Casat, Renoir and the early works of the eighteenth century artists, including Saldin And thunder. It has been from the Dallas Art Museum to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, where we have the opportunity to see it and will be reopened on July 19 at the Denver Museum of Art.

It is far more than the title conveyed, including nearly two centuries of works, still life and landscape themes began to replace the traditional historical and religious themes of the times. Still life is remodeled, beyond the previous decoration classification, as important and serious work, get new acceptance.

Fantin-Latour is the owner of this type. His exquisite floral still life has attracted us years of inspiration, which is a special treatment, they see them in person. However, we are not familiar with the same wonderful works of his wife, Victor Dubu Finnish-Latour (1840-1926). Although this exhibition only includes one of her works, it inspires us to know more about her life and work.

Dub was born in Paris. At the age of 26, she met the Louvre of Finnish-Latour, who were copying the master paintings as part of their study. After a long period of participation, they married in 1876. The above picture is Fantin-Latour's gift to Dubourg when they are involved. Dubourg and Fantin-Latour are the core of their circle of friends, Edouard Manet, Berthe Morisot and Edgar Degas. Surprisingly, the illustrations of Dubourg are not satisfactory today with the contemporary people.

The two in the adjacent studio side by side, co-created known as the "home interior landscape" paintings. Dubourg was exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1894 and 1895 and became a member of the Royal College from 1882 to 1896. She won Legion d'Honneur in 1920. She is a successful artist, winner in the salon and sold to the Luxembourg Museum.

Dubourg and Fantin-Latour each have their own, established a successful and independent career. Dubourg is also a fanatical gardener, and it is believed that the flowers of her hut garden are those used in her paintings and used in Vientian-Latour.

Maybe we know little about the work of Dubble, but she knows a lot about her husband, because she devotion after death, created his catalog, and ensured his tradition.
